Since the World Summit on Human and Environment in Stockholm in 1972, Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg in 2002, Indonesia has been participating actively in discussing some efforts to overcome the degradation of environment quality.Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago. This comes with important advantages but also with significant drawbacks. It suffered an important economic crisis in the mid-1997 from which it is only now slowly beginning to recover.
