Indonesia comprises 17.508 islands of which 6,000 are inhabited. Predominant are the five islands Sumatera, Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi and Irian Jaya. According to the most recent data on population in February 1997, the Indonesian population has reached 200 million, becoming the 4th most populous nation in the world. In the year 2020, the population is projected will reach 267 million. However, the population is unevenly distributed with 65% living in the islands of Java, Bali, and Madura...........
